How Armor Sole Was Born — Zimbabwe's Home of Certified Guyisa Safety Shoes

There’s a breed of person who can’t sit still. The kind who spends an afternoon up a ladder installing a CCTV system, shifts the next day to custom-building shop fittings, and somehow still finds time for a walk or hike before the month ends. One of Armor Sole’s co-founders is exactly that kind of handyman—someone drawn to hands-on, sometimes precarious work that demands grit, adaptability, and getting the job done safely.

For years, finding the right safety shoe was a quiet frustration. Not the dramatic kind — just the slow, grinding kind that builds over time. He needed something that could handle a ladder in the morning, a rocky trail in the afternoon, and still not embarrass him at the shops on the way home. Safety was non-negotiable. Comfort was non-negotiable. And it had to look like something a person would choose to wear.

The Problem With Safety Shoes in Zimbabwe

What he kept finding instead were safety shoes that looked like they were designed in 1940 and hadn’t been updated since. Heavy. Stiff. Ugly. The kind you take off at the door the second your shift ends.

He brought the problem to his co-founder. They looked at what was available locally. They tested, compared, debated. The verdict was unanimous — nothing on the Zimbabwean market was worth recommending to anyone they respected.

They also realized something bigger: this wasn’t just their problem. Every factory worker, every chef, every electrician, every farm manager in Zimbabwe was either wearing uncomfortable, ugly safeties — or nothing certified at all. A personal frustration turned out to be a national one.

Why Guyisa Changed Everything

That’s when they went further. After a lot of back and forth with Guyisa — a manufacturer quietly redefining safety footwear internationally — something clicked. CE certified. EN ISO 20345. ASTM F2413. Kevlar midsole. Lightweight enough for a hike. Solid enough for a mine. Stylish enough for a Friday.

So they made it their mission to fix it.

Zimbabwe’s Official Guyisa Agent

Guyisa agreed. In August 2025, they formally appointed Armor Sole (Pvt) Ltd as their sole, official brand agent for Africa/Zimbabwe — an authorization backed by a physical plaque, signed and issued by Guyisa themselves. Not a reseller. Not a side hustle. A formal mandate from the manufacturer.

The first safety shoe that started it all? The AM550. Steel toe. Kevlar midsole. Durable microfiber. HI-POLY insole. Sandwich mesh lining. Light enough to hike in. Certified enough for any worksite in Zimbabwe. The shoe he actually wanted — and couldn’t find anywhere in Zimbabwe — until Guyisa built it.
